Ventriloquist and friends share important lessons

photo of ventriloquistWhat better way to teach children important life lessons than through humor!

On Friday, December 14th, the entire elementary school did exactly that as they were entertained by the the antics of ventriloquist Mark Wade and his amazing puppets. Mrs. Wade's show "The Attitude is Everything" kept the audience laughing as they learned about the importance of a positive attitude.

Mark began by teaching a little audience etiquette with the assistance of volunteers Samantha, Caleb, Brandyn, and Josh. After a brief explanation, the students demonstrated how and how not to applaud during the performance. Once the audience understood how to respectfully applaud, they received a lesson on how ventriloquism works. Mark told a funny story about the little man who lives in the water glass. Everyone heard a little voice heard coming from the glass.

Eggmont was followed by Terrible Tom, a bully with a bad attitude. Tom learned that by changing his attitude others will be more accepting of him.

What made the skit so funny was the fact the the baby wasn't really a baby; it was just a towel folded up in Mark's arms to look like a baby!

Mark Wade worked as an elementary teacher for over 20 years. He has been the opening act for Reba McEntire and Garth Brooks. He and his wife, a performing clown, live in South Glens Falls.
