The State Education Department requires the school district to
describe its population of special needs students. The description
must include the number and age span of the students and preschool
students to be served by type of disability and recommended
setting.
Here is a brief description of our special needs students and the
settings in which they are educated based on the SED PD-1/4 Report
completed on December 1, 2003:
Preschool
We have 13 Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE)
students. One student receives his education in an early
childhood special education setting and four receive services at
home. Eight children receive special education in the regular
early childhood settings.
School-Age Students (K-12) We have 205 Committee on Special
Education (CSE) students educated as follows:
- 172 students are educated on the FFCS campus (135 are
part-time special education students and 37 are full-time
special education students).
- 33 students attend HFM BOCES classes in several buildings in
the Mayfield, Broadalbin-Perth, Canajoharie, Gloversville and
Johnstown school districts.
- 4 students are educated in separate settings outside of
regular school district facilities: 1 student attends Wildwood
School in Guilderland; 1 student attends Devereux New York
Center in Red Hook; 1 attends Parsons Child and Family Center in
Albany; 1 of our students attends the New York State School for
the Deaf in Rome, New York.
