Egelston
joins 1000-point club
On Dec. 15, Senior Paula Egelston etched her name in the
Fonda-Fultonville High School record books as just the fifth
woman basketball player to score 1000 points in her varsity
career. The Lady Braves forward reached the milestone midway
through the third quarter of the team's win over Galway.
Coach Wendy Waters said, ""I'm very proud of Paul's achievement.
She's worked hard throughout her career to reach this milestone.
She has shown what can be accomplished through hard work and
dedication.
Coach Waters added that Paula was tall in middle school and
began playing center. As others caught up in height, Paula has
transitioned to her role as a strong forward. That change forced
Paula to learn to shoot outside as well as down low in the
paint. Developing that skill has strengthened the likelihood of
her continuing her basketball career at an NCAA Division III
school.
As a four-year starter, she was named the league MVP in 2008 and
2009.
Despite her personal success, Paula remains focused on her
bigger goal—winning the WAC and making a run for the Class B
State title.
